I’ve just put together a 45-page monograph on a right-angle joint which I make extensive use of in my work, the Japanese name being 箱相欠き車知栓仕口, Hako-aigaki-shachi-sen-shiguchi.
Yep, 45 pages on a single type of joint. What could be in there?

This is the strongest wood-joined corner construction possible, a joint unknown in the western tradition. I decided it is time to make it known! Would a joint like that be used for sills as well, or is it only used in furniture?

It's used in architectural timber work, sills and headers, used in finish carpentry, and I've adapted it many times to furniture work.

Extremely detailed instructions are given to build the joint: every single step is illustrated multiple times by somebody who makes the joint and knows what camera angle is needed to show clearly important information. Also adequate tools, jigs and methods are suggested for complicated parts (and there’s many in this joint).
What’s more important (and rarer), every feature of the joint is commented about its impact in the general stability of the work,
As an icing on the cake, comments on what happens if you (slightly) miss-cut the joint are given and ways of corrections are suggested.
It just is a wonderfull book.
